My Challenge is to Run 10 kilometres EVERY DAY FOR 10 DAYS IN 2024

My challenge is uncomfortable for me because...

It pushes me out of my comfort zone, just like Nedd’s journey inspires us all to do. I'm stepping up to this challenge to not only grow personally but also to raise awareness and support for We Are Mobilise, helping people in Australia experiencing homelessness.

DAY EIGHT!

Monday 28th Oct
DAY SEVEN. 
Today was a wild ride with a massive day at work, 30 degrees roof framing all day and an hour drive there and back. Hello Sport got the job done. 
Got home in a pretty poor state of mind and quite anxious about the run which proved to work an absolute treat in the end. 
A handful of snakes in the back pocket for the halfway point, a pair of charged AirPods and finally the pump up pack to lift morale. On went the shirt and off we went. 

PB TIME!!! 7km done and dusted with a decent run today and then finished off with a 3.6km walk to get Erin over the line. 
CAN SMELL THE FINISH LINE!!!!

My feet and knee are an absolute mess but we will worry about that after Wednesday.

DAY SEVEN!

Monday 28th Oct
DAY SEVEN. 

Very very tough one this afternoon, but we get it done nonetheless. Forced to walk/jog the last 3.7/4km due to the state of my feet which we are going to try and work through tonight. Air Pods also dead, one of those days! RAW DOG. Getting so close now and honestly it may be one of the most memorable things mentally & physically I’ve ever achieved. Skies the limit! 

Didn’t start the watch for a kilometre to start the run (shuffle) which hurt the soul but you are aware of the circuit I’ve been doing. Let’s be honest I’m getting this done somehow and someway. 

A lot of stretching tonight and we go again tomorrow.

DAY SIX.

The train rolls on, the niggles and blisters are certainly growing but after 1km or so I’m always fairly good to go. Body and breathing felt good today despite the distance and wind. 
Brick by brick we are making this happen and I’m so fucking proud of myself!

DAY FIVE!

Monday 28th Oct
DAY FIVE. 

Can say I have officially reached the half way mark of this f *#cking wild challenge, and god it feels good!

Managed to bang out 7.5km this morning at my best pace for the distance so far, just a click over 7 minutes as the body is really taking a while to get moving at the moment but once I got rolling I was good to go with some decent late splits. The mental warfare of running I am already starting to love again and the muscle memory is slowly coming back. Who knows what’s on the horizon. 

Followed this up with a 3km walk with ez to get her over the line and managed a few jogs with her but her body is falling apart at the seams, big week at work and energy levels were low for the poor thing. But alas she pushed through. 

Body is aching but surprisingly holding up better than I thought. 

Onto a 10km effort before a sober wedding tomorrow and more than likely a 10km run with my boy @matthewpaul1991 who is going to get me through day 7 and be my moral support.

DAY FOUR.

Thursday 24th Oct

DAY FOUR.

Felt 100x better for the run this morning, 7km at a half decent pace. As you can imagine the legs are fighting a battle on their own at the moment but we keep pushing. 

A little too much liquid prior meant a good little chuck about 4km in. My apologies to the poor lady and her dog who got to watch that first hand. A laugh was shared! 


Pushed the rest of the run out this afternoon after work around mayfield and set a pace I was more than happy with over the 3.1km. Progress on the horizon. Happy days!! Not sure if easier or harder having to split the run in two at the moment because of work but we will see Saturday and Sunday. 


$922 RAISED. Absolutely mental and I am starting to feel so proud of what I am doing! Life changing to be honest.

DAY THREE.

Wednesday 23rd Oct

DAY THREE. 


“Everything you've ever wanted is sitting on the other side of fear.”


The battle was real today and to say I was in the trenches this afternoon is an understatement. Definitely underestimated the effects a 30 degree day at work on a roof would have on me come 4pm this afternoon when I set off. 

The legs were gone after about 500m and the battle began. But we battled through, albeit a slower time but there is no quitting. I’ll get this done whether I have to walk it and take 3 hours doing so. Then I stopped for a quick gel to hydrate and forgot to turn the watch back on so lost 1km, falling apart at the seams at that point. 

Let’s hope to bounce back tomorrow with a better run in the morning. 


Legs are absolutely cactus but the motivation is at an all time high. Saw an old friend towards the end of my run today and as I ran off with my headphones blaring he yelled I’ll be donating tonight you legend. Mitch you are a lord mate! ❤️

Day Two Update.

Tuesday 22nd Oct

Another 10km in the pins and feeling it. 


As a back story I haven’t ran over 1km in honestly 5 years since doing every ligament in my ankle for a second time and being forced to retire from football. 

The inspiration I have taken from watching Nedd achieve what he just did I can’t even explain to you. 

Standing on the fence at Sydney Olympic Park on the first Sunday after the grand final, the Monday morning after that and then travelling down to see the last night of his run was life changing. This guy is the terminator! 


To say I’m in the trenches and uncomfortable doing this 10km a day along with the other side quests is an understatement. 


But fuck it makes you realise how capable you are as a human being when you set a goal and don’t give up.

ALMOST D DAY!

Thursday 17th Oct
I will also be challenging myself with the following things personally on this journey. 
- 10km run everyday for 10 days. (Walk involved)
- Drink nothing but water excluding basic supplements eg. Magnesium, BCAA etc. 
- Read Nedds book in the 10 days. 
- Ice bath everyday for 10 days. 

Let’s goooooooo. 
Everyone get around this and challenge yourself to get uncomfortable. Never an ideal time to change your ways!!! So fucking do it on Sunday!
