My Challenge is to Run 16 kilometres EVERY DAY FOR 10 DAYS IN 2024

bg my challenge

My challenge is uncomfortable for me because...

It pushes me out of my comfort zone, just like Nedd’s journey inspires us all to do. I'm stepping up to this challenge to not only grow personally but also to raise awareness and support for We Are Mobilise, helping people in Australia experiencing homelessness.

A New Perspective on Homelessness

Monday 30th Sep

For years, I must admit that I never thought too much about homelessness. I knew it was a problem, but it felt distant—something that happened to "other people." My views were shaped by stereotypes: I associated homelessness primarily with drug and alcohol addiction or the notion of “dole bludgers” taking advantage of the system.

But recently, my perspective has shifted dramatically. I’ve come to realize that homelessness can affect anyone, and it often starts with just one sudden turn of bad luck. With the rising cost of living, more and more people are finding themselves on the brink of homelessness.

It’s not just individuals struggling with addiction; it’s families who can’t secure a rental, people going through painful breakups, or those who lack a support system when they need it most. It’s people who have lost their jobs and are unable to find new ones in a competitive market. The truth is, homelessness is a complex issue that can happen to anyone at any time.

To take action and support this cause, I’ll be partaking in Nedds Uncomfortable Challenge this October, and running 16km per day for 10 days to help raise money for those experiencing homelessness. I’m inspired by Nedd Brockmann, who has been doing incredible things to raise awareness and funds. His challenge in 2022 truly kickstarted a running and fitness trend like no other, and he’s making a real difference in the lives of so many.

I believe that every step I take will help contribute to a larger movement toward compassion and support for those in need. Together, we can change the narrative around homelessness and work to build a more supportive community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Let’s rally together and show that we care—because everyone deserves a place to call home.
