My Challenge is to Run 16 kilometres EVERY DAY FOR 10 DAYS IN 2024

bg my challenge

My challenge is uncomfortable for me because...

It pushes me out of my comfort zone, just like Nedd’s journey inspires us all to do. I'm stepping up to this challenge to not only grow personally but also to raise awareness and support for We Are Mobilise, helping people in Australia experiencing homelessness.

My Updates

Update: Day 4 to Day 6

Thursday 24th Oct

Day 4: Started with me hitting the snooze button a couple of times . So, I started at 3:30am instead of the planned 3am.

Once the old body got warmed up. I was able to settle into a good run rhythm. Unfortunately, my support crew (Hubby) failed me and

forgotten to turn the ice machine on so no ice bath for recovery

Day 5: I was able to go to bed a bit early than my normal 10:30pm bedtime on day 4. Resulting in me jumping out of bed when the

first of 6 wake up alarms went off. Lol The old body, is unquestionably starting to feel the wornoutness in the legs, especially the knees and the right hip.

But nothing worthwhile come easy (apparently). Again, once the legs warmed up, I was able to find a nice running rhythming.

Day 6: AKA Hell Day Today 16km was very uncool. This unenjoyable flow on of events started the night before,

when I decided to treat the fam bam to some bought fish and chip. Not sure what apart of dinner decided to attack me.

But within 10mins of eating it my life was not good. Refusing to allow dinner to win, I put myself to bed hoping that when I woke up everything would A OK.

Sadly, within 10mins of my 3am alarm screaming at me. I was reminded that last night’s dinner was still not my friend.

Being the stubborn human who doesn’t like losing, I threw myself on the old treadmill. This began to start of the next 2hours of hell.

Fighting not spew every time I took a breath turned into me holding my breath which led to massive fatigue. I so badly just wanted to stop and feel sorry for bad life choices.

It was not pretty, not enjoyable…. But I got it done.

Update: Day 1 to Day 3

Tuesday 22nd Oct

Day 1: I decided to start a day early on Saturday, so that I could better use the weekend. This decision was not made until last Saturday afternoon 4:30pm.

The old legs and hips felt good and fresh. I’m not going to lie to you. I was buggered by the time I finished the 16km.

Day 2: My plan was to smash this one out early Sunday morning, but I was distracted by my mum chores (washing , ironing & cleaning).

I hit the Treadmill at 9:30am. Yesterday was a stinker of a hot day. My treadmill is set up on the veranda under a tin roof.

By the halfway mark I was definitely questioning my life choices, I could feel my whole-body heat burning from the tin roof.

I did not enjoy any park of the 16km. lol the old body took a bit to recovery as I felt quiet faint and struggled to get body temp down.

After a bit of reflection, I concluded that I had only ate once in between runs which effect my ability to enjoy life.

Day 3: 3am start, I leant from yesterday mistake and had made sure I had fuelled the old body up.

I surprising woke up feeling fresh with little soreness. I was happy with the run this morning. Nothing beats a 20min ice baths for recovery for an old body.
