My Challenge is to Run 2 kilometres EVERY DAY FOR 10 DAYS IN 2024

bg my challenge

My challenge is uncomfortable for me because...

I run around playing with my friends, but have never done running non-stop like this before. I want to raise awareness and support for We Are Mobilise, helping people in Australia experiencing homelessness.

LETSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

My Updates

Day 10: Yay!!!!!

Wednesday 30th Oct
I was a bit tired because I did swim lessons just before my run. I wished yesterday was the last day, but doing the run was pretty good. I got to run with Aunty Tony and mum.

The story was about Grug and he was at the desert. He got to see the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, and the Mohave Desert. He found out that his hair was actually like an air conditioner. It kept him cool.

I did it pretty fast. It was my quickest run of the whole challenge. The people at Bootcamp cheered me on at the end. It made me feel good. I did really really hard work and it was worth it. It feels really nice to be able to help homeless people. I'm grateful for what I've got and it's nice to let other people have that too.

Day 9: Really hard, one more day to go

Monday 28th Oct
I wish today was the last day. I didn't really want to run. I stubbed my toe on the table and broke a toenail. It hurt a lot. I went anyway.

It was funny because my sore toe made it easier to run. Today mum told the story of me kicking my toe. She was a bit silly and it made me laugh.

My time was really good today. It was the fastest run I did by myself. I learned that even though things are hard I can still do them.

Day 8: at home

Monday 28th Oct
I wore sandals and that was a bad idea. It was really hard. I tripped more, and it felt really uncomfortable.
Mum told me the story Where the Wild Things Are except we didn't read the book. Good thing mum knows all the words.

Day 7: running with my cousin

Saturday 26th Oct
Today I did it in less than 15 minutes! It was just two laps around the block of my cousin's house. I did it so quick because my cousin was there. It was fun so it was easy to do.
I was so happy that my cousin was there that I didn't even notice that it was 2 km. I was glad to be hanging out with my cousin.

Day 6: 2k at home

Saturday 26th Oct
Today was a bit of a rush. I was a bit pooped but I did it anyway. The good thing is it's getting easier. It's easier because I know I can do 2k now. It's easier because me and mum have worked out how to make it fun. It's easier because it's not even that far.

Todays story was about Spiky (toy dinosaur) getting a new house. He had to fill it up with stuff like pictures. He wanted to make it his home. He got help from Dragon. Dragon was his best friend. They found a dinosaur park and played until 5 o'clock and the shops were already closed. Then they went to the shops the next day instead.

Day 5: Bootcamp

Saturday 26th Oct
When I got to the start of the run it was really hard because I wanted to play. Zoe was already there and I had to run. But I did it.
I did 4 laps of the oval. It was cool because every time we passed bootcamp they all gave me high fives. It made me feel good.

The story that mum told me today was about Grug's visit to the ocean. He met Lou the Lobster and went to an underwater dance party. They all had fun. Grug had to hold his breath.

Day 4: at home

Wednesday 23rd Oct
The challenge was really fun. I did 2k only with running. I ran the whole time with no walking. Maybe tomorrow I can do that again. While I was running I learned distracting me helps me run more. It was really good teamwork with me running and mum riding.

Today's story was about Thomas the Tank Engine again. He was sad that his friends didn't think it was a good idea to help other people so he decided to do something really big to convince his friends. He chuffed all the way across the country just like Nedd. It was really hard but by the end he knew he could do so much, and his friends all realised that helping other people is so important.

Day 3: run at bootcamp

Tuesday 22nd Oct
This was my first big run at bootcamp. I ran more and walked less than yesterday, and mum ran with me. Mum told me a Thomas the Tank engine story. Thomas found out why the sky was white, and played a trick on the Fat Controller. Then he found out it was April Fool's day. It was really funny.
It's really really hard to run 2k without stopping. Hearing the story helps me because it distracts me. I'm finding out that I can do more than I thought I could.

Day 2: 2k run

Tuesday 22nd Oct
I can't believe I did it again, another 2k. I got a little bored, so my mum made up a story to tell me. The story was about Grug, he had a party, he served some apple juice that makes people rainbow-y and sparkly. Once everyone had some no one could see who was the real rainbow (rainbow was one of the invited guests). Also Grug served dumplings to eat.

Day 1: Kids run + 2k at home

Monday 21st Oct
Today was the first day. I did more kilometres because I did the kids run AND 2k when we got home. The run was hard.

Getting started - my donation

Monday 21st Oct
I wanted to be able to donate some money, but I don't have a job so don't really have any money. I've done some extra weeding at home to earn $5 to donate, and I'm proud of that.
