Days 8 & 9: Legs are burning, spirits are high—just one more 10km to go!
Day 8 was incredibly fun, with Zoe and Harrison joining in. It's been hilarious to watch my friends start with, "I'll just walk or do 5km," and then end up running the entire 10km. Huge thank you to all our friends who have set aside their time to tackle this challenge with us – seeing your energy and commitment pushes us to keep going (and your impressive pace). MY KNEE EVEN STOPPED HURTING, so I had to double-check with Mel to make sure I didn’t paralyse myself (don’t stress, the pain came back the next day).
Finding the mental drive to commit to day 9 was going to be a challenge, but Sophie’s company in the morning was a game-changer. It is bizarre how distracting friends can be to your impending limb doom.
On the topic of donations – HOLY HECK!!!!!! I can’t express how grateful I am to everyone who has contributed. I've tried to personally thank those I could, but if I missed you, please know how much I appreciate your support. Your generosity is going to make a real difference for so many Australians facing hardship.
Tomorrow marks the final day and, dare I say it (whispering here), I think I’ll actually miss this (Edward won’t). Sure, my limbs will be relieved to have a break but pushing myself mentally and physically for such an important cause has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished, and I hope we all keep standing up for those who need a helping hand.
Thank you so much, everyone. We are so grateful. Here’s to one last 10km!
Days 6 & 7: In the Bag, Just 3 More to Go!
Day 7 is officially done! Reflecting on day 6, it was by far the most enjoyable one yet. Having Ebony, Jesse, and Harrison there to cheer us on (and of course, a special shoutout to Buster and Doug) made all the difference. It really helped to break up the mental grind of pushing through these runs.
I squeezed in an 11-hour rest before jumping into day 7, but I definitely felt it in my knee—it’s all about perseverance as we head into the final stretch. Just 3 more days to go, and I couldn’t be prouder of us for standing up for such a critical cause. We are incredibly fortunate to be doing this together.
Thank you so much to everyone who’s donated—every dollar truly has the power to change a life. If you’re not in a position to donate, no worries—grab a Grill’d burger, they’re supporting We Are Mobilise too!
Day 5: Recap & Gearing Up for Day 6
Today is Day 6, and yesterday was a tough one. I almost thought I wouldn’t make it through Day 5. I've been dealing with a knee injury for a few months now, and this challenge has definitely put it to the test. They say it's all blood, sweat, and tears—well, we’ve hit sweat and tears so far. A huge thank you to Edward for taking on this challenge with me—your support has made all the difference, and I can’t imagine how much harder this would have been without you by my side.
An even bigger thank you to everyone who has donated and helped us reach the halfway mark! Tonight, we’ll be running alongside some celebrity runners (okay, our friends, but they’re celebrities to us) through the beautiful streets of Newcastle. We’ll be taking this one a bit slower to make sure we can keep going strong.
Thank you again for your support and for helping us make a difference for those who need it most. We’re so fortunate to face challenges like this run, to keep pushing through, and to have a warm shower and some physio from Melanie (Edward’s mum) waiting for us afterward. This run is about making a difference for those who don’t have those same comforts. Please keep donating, and we’ll keep showing up.
Day 4
As we near the halfway point of our challenge and approach almost half of our donation goal, we want to thank everyone who has supported us and donated so far. We weren’t sure what to expect, but the support we’ve received has been incredibly motivating. This challenge has been tough, but we feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to make such a meaningful difference for those who need it most. Thank you all for being a part of this journey with us! Here’s to 60 more kilometres!Days 1 to 3
Day 1 was DELIGHTFUL! It was Ed’s first-ever 10km, and he even said that if he wanted to tackle a half marathon, it felt doable today (and guess what? We’re signed up for one in April). I’m really proud of us for taking on this challenge together for a great cause. On Day 2, we were feeling sore after our first run, and in our infinite wisdom, we decided to go for a hike afterward. But we pushed through and kept going. Day 3 was a real struggle. We’re definitely leaning into the discomfort, especially with the weather we've been having. Thankfully, Ed had some Powerade on hand to help us recover afterward. A huge thank you to everyone who has donated and motivated us. There’s no stopping us now, let’s keep making a positive impact!!!Why are we undertaking this challenge?
Edward and I are taking on a challenge: 10km every day for 10 days! We’re not just pushing our limits physically and mentally, but more importantly, we're shining a light on We Are Mobilise and their incredible work supporting Aussies experiencing homelessness—one step at a time!Thank you to our Sponsors
